The team at Hogan Osteo Plus
Shaun moved into his own premises in St Hill Street in 2002. He and his wife Philippa run it together.
Shaun Hogan, D.O.
Shaun’s interest in bodywork began at the German National Rowing Academy in Ratzeburg, where he rowed from 1982 to 1986 and felt the benefits of massage therapy first hand. He gained a Diploma in Massage Therapy in 1989 (NZATMP), then a Diploma in Osteopathy in 1997 from the NZ College of Osteopathy.
That skill set has taken him through many of Whanganui’s representative sports teams and several New Zealand teams abroad including Team Soigneur the NZ Track Cycling Team at the 1992 Olympic Games, 1990 and 1994 Commonwealth Games and 1990, 1991 and 1997 World Championships, which is where he met his wife Philippa, now the practice manager at Hogan Osteo Plus.

FMS and SFMA are movement assessment systems from Functional Movement Systems. The screen looks at how you move and where you are restricted; the assessment is a clinical tool used when pain is present, to find the cause rather than just the site of it.
Philippa Baker-Hogan
Practice Manager
Philippa runs the practice, and is Shaun’s wife. She came to Hogan Osteo Plus from a career in elite sport and healthcare, and knows the recovery journey from the inside.
She is a three-time World Rowing Champion (1991, 1993 and 1994) and a two-time Olympian, competing in 1992 and 1996. She was appointed MBE for services to rowing, and was inducted into the New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. She holds a Diploma in Radiography and a Diploma in Sports Studies, has served as a Whanganui District Councillor since 2006 and was a Whanganui District Health Board Member from 2004-2022.
